Using ClearPoint and Zapier

Zapier allows you to create code-free integrations between different applications through trigger and action events. A trigger event can be something that occurs within ClearPoint or another application. An action is the result of the trigger event and can also take place within ClearPoint or another application. Three examples of triggers/actions within ClearPoint are when an Objective, Measure, or Initiative is created. Alternatively, ClearPoint’s webhooks feature can be used to create customized triggers.

Option 1: Zapier Trigger or Action

Within Zapier, you can create a Zap by connecting ClearPoint with another application. There are over 3,000 different apps that you can connect with within Zapier.

One application you connect with within Zapier is Slack. An example of creating a Zap with ClearPoint and Slack would be the creation of a new ClearPoint objective, measure, or initiative causing a new message to be sent over a Slack channel. The creation of the ClearPoint objective, measure, or initiative is the trigger event and the message being sent over Slack is the action.

The opposite Zap could also be set up using ClearPoint and Slack. This time, a new message being sent within a particular Slack channel will cause either a new objective, measure, or initiative to be created in ClearPoint. The message being sent in the Slack channel is the trigger event and the creation of the objective, measure, or initiative is the action.

Option 2: Webhooks

Setting up a Zap in Zapier

In Zapier, start by creating a new Zap. Under Built-In Apps select Webhooks by Zapier.

For the Trigger Event, select Catch Hook. Then click Continue.

Next, click the blue Copy button next to the Custom Webhook URL.

Adding the Webhook in ClearPoint

In your ClearPoint account, click into System Settings and then Admin Options in the Control Panel.

Select the Integrations menu tile.

Then choose the Webhooks tab on the left navigation.

Click on the plus icon to add a new webhook. Give the webhook a name in the Name field. In the URL field, paste in the Custom Webhook URL that you copied from Zapier. Under Options, select to Fire on Scorecard Changes. Using the dropdown menu, select the Scorecards that you would like to ‘watch’. For the Type of Change, check the box next to Add for this example.

Finalizing the integration

To test the webhook, first go to the scorecard you selected in ClearPoint and add a new element.

Then go back to Zapier, and click on Find Data. Under Choose App & Event select Microsoft Teams, and under Action Event select Send Chat Message. Then click Continue.
